This two-part Special Issue of Romance Philology published by Brepols devotes the journal's annual output to the Spanish influence in the New World, with much of the scholarship centering on its documentation in the American Southwest, and New Mexico in particular. Part One contains nine articles, two review articles, and seven reviews which appear in author-alphabetical order in each volume by category; Part Two holds six articles, one comprising two lengthy segments. By topic they fall into four broad areas of content and emphasis: guides to special collections, projects, and research tools; linguistics; editing, editions, and translations; and studies of stylistics and content. Co-editor Barbara De Marco introduces and contextualizes the collection for a broad interdisciplinary audience to include ethnographers, historians, and folklorists, as well as the journal's usual readers, philologists and literature specialists (I: i-v). The abundance of new information, previously unknown, unedited or unstudied texts, translations, and extensive bibliography address the broad audience of specialists and New World scholars.
